The Benedictine Values are interwoven throughout the MSN/MBA Dual Degree in Healthcare Administration program at the University of Mary. These Values develop a functional framework of serving others while committing myself to a lifelong learning journey.

Benedictine Values

Servant Leadership

My leadership values are to empower and influence others in a positive way and aid in their growth. I gained leadership knowledge by surrounding myself with mentors who have committed to lifelong learning, are flexible, demonstrate emotional intelligence, and exhibit ethical behavior. Integrating the Benedictine Values into my leadership viewpoint strengthens the principles of service, courage, professionalism, and knowledge.

Through these mentors and incorporating the Benedictine Values, as a student at the University of Mary, I have gained servant leadership techniques that have positioned me to empower others and become an effective leader.

The Benedictine values were very impactful during my graduate education and at the University of Mary; however, the two most influential were; respect for persons and moderation. Both principles enhanced my nurse leadership skills and helped me grow as a person professionally, as a community member, and in my personal life. The MBA/MSN Dual Degree in Healthcare Administration required me to collaborate with students whose backgrounds, cultures, ethnicity, and views varied; therefore, these values were integral while working together on various projects. These two principals have and will continue to have a positive influence as a nurse leader throughout my career.
